If you’re in need of a boiler quote ASAP – have you thought about booking one at night?
It may sound odd, and you may be wondering: “But why would I want to have a boiler quote at night?”.
However, if you’re out at work all day, or have a busy lifestyle, it’s actually a really good option. You may even find it affects your decision on which boiler is right for you!
Not everyone offers evening boiler quotes. However, as an experienced engineer, let me tell you why I do – and why you might want to consider one.
Why ask for a boiler quote at night?
It’s actually not weird at all. A lot of good, reputable heating engineers and companies will give their customers the option of boiler quotes in the evening. Personally, I offer evening quotes because buying a new boiler tends to be a big decision – and a considerable investment.
I’ve found that a lot of customers who get a quote during the day seem a bit short of time, or are under pressure with work commitments. They’re not being rude, but they don’t have the time to give us their full attention; either checking their emails or have to rush off back to work. I’ve found at night, they generally have more questions or are looking for information or solutions based on other quotes.
A lot of the time they have had quotes from other engineers during the day but never had time to have things explained in detail. Which is important.
After all, the boiler you buy today could potentially last you a full 20 years – or more! And there are various factors to take into consideration, such as how you can be 100% sure you’re buying a boiler that’s the right output and size for your home. These things can’t be rushed.
And in order to get a thorough boiler quote, you really need an engineer to make a home visit and take a look at your current boiler and central heating set-up. Otherwise, the quote you’re getting won’t necessarily be accurate, or be at a fixed price.
So, if you’re out at work all day and don’t want to take time off, or be rushing about in your lunch hour, an evening quote can be the perfect solution! Otherwise, you may end up making a rushed decision or simply not have time to think about it fully.
Advice from an experienced engineer
If you’re looking for a boiler quote, but you don’t want to rush and you’re out at work all day, requesting a boiler quote at night might be the wisest choice. Your engineer will be able to properly assess your needs, ask all the right questions, and answer any questions you might have. No rushing required!
Most engineers should realise that people have their own commitments during the day. That’s why reputable engineers will make time for their clients at night. There are many people who are retired or on work shifts, however I find at least 65% of people want quotes at night – if offered.
It’s also the best choice if you want your boiler quote to be thorough, and at a fixed price. Otherwise, if you just get one over the phone, there may be factors that haven’t been taken into consideration, and it could end up costing you more.
I’d also recommend getting at least 2 – 3 boiler quotes, just to ensure they match up, and that you’re getting a good deal for your money. Look at things like guarantee length, recommended model, and outputs to ensure they match up. If they don’t – ask why.

Conclusion
I hope you’ve found this blog helpful. I always like to give my customers the option of getting their boiler quote at night, however not everyone knows they can do this. Which is why I wanted to let you know – yes, you can! Most reputable engineers should be happy to book a time with you in the evening for a home visit/quote.
