Service & Repair
Do you want to find out more about boiler servicing and repairs?
If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate event of your boiler suddenly breaking down over winter, and you don’t have an existing service contract or guarantee, you could feel left out in the cold – as many heating companies are incredibly busy during the colder months.
It’s not an ideal scenario, which is why more and more of my customers are investing in service plans or contracts to ensure they’re covered for all eventualities – and it could even mean you’ll never even have to worry about replacing your boiler ever again.
So, what should you be looking for in a service contract?
If you’re anything like most of my customers, you’ll want to know you’re getting value for money. Most homeowners want to pay a reasonable price to keep their boiler running smoothly all year round, so they won’t even have to worry about a breakdown.
However, there are many different types of service plans and maintenance contracts available right now, and choosing one can seem a bit daunting – especially with extra small print or strings attached.
If you’re feeling confused about your options, you’re not alone, which is why we’ve put together The Homeowner’s Guide to Boiler Servicing to help you out.
Service plans vs service contracts
Service plans are usually offered as insurance products by the likes of British Gas, AA and Homeserve, and often there can be an excess to pay. In contrast, you can often arrange a service contract with your local heating companies and engineers.
Both of these types of contracts will cover you for your annual service, but depending on the service contract you choose, you may or may not also be covered for repairs to your boiler, controls, valves and pump, pipework and radiators.
Another main difference between service plans and contracts is the price. A service plan will usually set you back around £240 per year, but depending on the service contract, you can arrange one for as little as £179 per year (or around £14.99 a month).
If you have a relatively new boiler, some service contracts can rightly take advantage of the fact that your boiler is still covered under warranty, cutting down the overall cost of your contract whilst still ensuring you’re covered for everything you need – now that’s boiler aftercare the smart way.
Our platinum service contract covers you for all of the above (with or without a guarantee), but goes one step further; we’ll cover the entire cost of a new boiler when it’s time to replace your existing one – with no strings attached!
