Are you interested in the Ideal Logic Max combi boiler range?

If you’re in the market for a reliable combi boiler that’s also great value for money, the Logic Max combi range may have recently caught your eye.

And for good reason! It’s a great range to suit most average households, but it also offers something the Logic+ range doesn’t (more about that below).

As a heating engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the Edinburgh area, I’m going to give you a full overview of the Ideal Logic Max combi boiler range, below.

Introduction

As a brand, Ideal are on the up. They’re gaining market share, so much so that they’re now the second most popular boiler to buy in the UK – alongside Worcester Bosch who are no.1. That’s really saying something!

Plus, they’ve got the Quiet Mark; a trick they’ve picked up from the likes of Worcester Bosch and Vaillant in establishing themselves as something a little bit special.

These are ultra quiet boilers – because no-one likes to be woken up or distracted by their boiler firing away in the background.

That may be no different from the Logic+ – the Logic Max basically IS the Logic+ in almost every way. However, there’s something that really sets the Logic Max aside from its identical twin… and that’s the guarantee.

Output and flow rates

Already got a good idea of the outputs and flow rate you need for your home? In that case, here’s the technical info you need to know in order to choose the right model for you. (Don’t worry if you don’t know these – an experienced heating engineer will be able to help by measuring your home’s heat loss and making an assessment)

  • Ideal Logic+ C24: This boiler provides an output of 24.2 kW to the heating and 24 kW to the hot water at 9.9 litres of hot water per minute (35 degrees Celsius)
  • Ideal Logic+ C30: This boiler provides an output of 24.2 kW to the heating and 30 kW to the hot water at 12.4 litres of hot water per minute (35 degrees Celsius)
  • Ideal Logic+ C35: This boiler provides an output of 24.2 kW to the heating and 35 kW to the hot water at 14.5 litres of hot water per minute (35 degrees Celsius)

TIP: I always recommend getting 2 – 3 fixed price quotes from experienced engineers to ensure you’re making the right choice.

Size and special features

The Ideal Logic Max measures in at 395mm x 700mmx 278mm. This makes it fairly compact – and perfect for fitting inside a standard kitchen cupboard. So, if you need to make the most of space in your home, this could be a great option!

These boilers also work with Ideal’s own smart thermostat, Touch Connect. So, you’ll be able to access and control your heating from your smartphone! (Note, this doesn’t automatically come with your new boiler)

Guarantee

The one and only big difference between the Ideal Logic Max and the Logic+ plus, as I mentioned above, is the guarantee. The Logic Max, when fitted with a high quality Ideal System filter, comes with an impressive 10-year guarantee. Compared to a 7-year guarantee for the Logic+.

This is a particularly good deal because it’s only an extra £100 for those three additional years. Plus, I would never fit a boiler without a filter anyway, so it’s a no-brainer.

Best suited to

Now, this is the part that most homeowners like to pay attention to. I’m about to tell you which of the Ideal Logic Max range might be best suited to your home.

  • Ideal Logic+ C24: This boiler is best suited to a small home or apartment with 2 – 3 bedrooms, 6 – 10 radiators and a shower.
  • Ideal Logic+ C30: This boiler is perfect for an average 3-bedroom home (or a 2-bedroom flat with high ceilings) with 6 – 10 radiators and a bath and shower.
  • Ideal Logic+ C35: This boiler is best suited to a three to four-bedroom home with 6-10 radiators and a deep bath or high pressure shower

TIP: Remember, this is only a rough guide, designed to give you a better idea of whether either of these ranges might be a good fit for your home. Remember, always get an engineer to measure your home’s heat loss before deciding!

Conclusion

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this overview of the Ideal Logic Max combi boiler range. It’s a great new offering from Ideal and they’ve really got their game on – hence the fact they’re really picking up market share at the moment. The 10-year guarantee with the additional filter is a very good deal for just an extra £100.
