Looking for the ideal Vaillant boiler for your medium-size Edinburgh property? If so, the Vaillant EcoTEC Plus range might be right up your street.
This week, I’m going to be reviewing the Vaillant EcoTEC Plus 832 and putting it through its paces, so you don’t have to.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then let’s begin.
Introduction
‘Vaillant thinks ahead’ is the company motto, and these are incredibly thoughtful boilers (as boilers go). A huge plus point is that they are incredibly reliable (in my eyes, they were the only direct competitor to Worcester Bosch before they scrapped their extended warranties), and Quiet Mark accredited – so they’re actually one of the quietest boilers on the market.
The EcoTEC Plus range delivers fantastic performance – almost instant hot water – with a compact size, and no need to worry about extra storage tanks or cylinders taking up space!
So, let’s take a closer look at the 832. This boiler is the direct replacement for the Vaillant EcoTEC Plus 831 and slightly higher specification.
Output and flow rate
With a heating output of 24.4kW, the EcoTEC Plus 832 is ideal for comfortably heating a 3-4 bedroom property.
With an output of 32kW on the hot water, It’s also got a little more power than the 831 it replaces, and can supply 13 litres of hot water per minute, which means it’s more suitable if you’ve got one shower and a bath, or even a couple of bathrooms.
Lot of manufacturers have 30kW and 35kW boilers available, but I particularly like the 832 as for once, it’s right in the middle. This means it’s great value for money and has a better flow rate than the 30kW models, without bumping you up to a 35kW.
Size
The EcoTEC Plus range is perfect if you want to make the most of the available space in your home, as they can easily fit in a kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press cupboard.
Plus, the lack of hot water cylinders and storage tanks mean you can have more storage space in your attic or storage cupboard for those suitcases or furniture you want to keep a hold of.
The EcoTEC Plus models are also quite stylish, with a contoured case and drop-down flap, so they don’t look out-of-place in your home.
Guarantee
Great news! The Vaillant EcoTEC Plus 832 comes with Vaillant’s brilliant 7-year guarantee* (when fitted by an accredited installer). This is a bit of a step down from the 10-year guarantee previously offered on this model, but you can still extend this if you’re willing to pay extra for a longer guarantee.
And, much like Worcester Bosch, Vaillant also has its own dedicated engineers to attend call-outs if you ever need them.
One of the best things about Vaillant’s guarantees is that there’s no hidden small print or unexpected credit card charges to catch you out, unlike other similar boiler companies.

Conclusion
The Vaillant EcoTEC Plus 832 is the perfect boiler for your medium-sized Edinburgh property, and is particularly handy if you have a shower and a bath, or a couple of bathrooms. I’m a big fan of this boiler, mainly because it sits right between a 30kW and a 35kW (which is what most companies provide).
The EcoTEC Plus range is ultra compact, so the 832 will easily fit in your kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press – allowing you to make the most of your available space. And because it’s a combi, you can get rid of those extra storage tanks, with instant hot water in just five seconds!
I love Vaillant’s guarantee, as there’s no complicated fine print or call-out charges – plus, they have dedicated engineers if you do ever need a call-out. But I just wish they’d kept up the 10-year length, as some manufacturers are even offering 12 years now.
What do you think of the Vaillant EcoTEC Plus 832 combi boiler?
*7-year guarantee is only valid if serviced annually by a Gas Safe Registered engineer

I don’t love the Vaillant Ecotec 832 boiler. Having had it installed new a few days ago I have yet to have any heat out of it. Brand new out the box it has the F75 problem. The dreaded F75 problem as I have discovered.
It’s a long running problem and there is a lot dedicated to it on the web. It’s appalling that a company can keep putting defective product out there. I widh I could have my 15 year old GlowWorm boiler back…
is 10 year warranty for ecotec plus 832 if I buy
I had it installed recently 10/11/2016. First problem-10 hrs after installation the no heating and no hot water. 3 days without heating and hot water!!! They can’t give you priority job, they will book and all day appointment which means you will know what time the engineer will come on the day of the appointment. You could be waiting for the whole day, wasting your time. Second problem- after the engineer came, the heating is on all the time, you can’t control the thermostat. It’s ridiculous!!! Brand new boiler with 2 problems already!! What’s next???
