Do you want to know more about what Ideal’s boiler guarantees and customer service is like at the moment?

Whenever I’m discussing boiler brands with my customers, these are two things that are of the most importance. After all, you had get many different boiler brands offering roughly the same outputs and flow rates for your home, but it’s how they’re taken care of when things go wrong that really sets a brand apart from its competitors.

I always find that my customers want to be reassured that they’re going to have support if anything goes wrong with their boiler. No-one likes to be left out in the cold, especially during the busy winter months. As a seasoned engineer, I should know!

So, without further ado, I’m going to tell you what you can expect from Ideal when it comes to customer support and a good guarantee.

What are Ideal’s guarantees like?

Ideal have really pulled a blinder with their guarantees lately, as they’re now offering a full 12-year no-quibble guarantee on some models! This has done a massive deal of good for their market share, and people are really beginning to take notice and invest in this brand again.

What’s more, there’s no nasty small print or hidden charges designed to catch you out! So, you can have ultimate peace of mind with an Ideal boiler guarantee.

It’s been a while since they’ve been at the top of their game, but now there’s a feeling that they could climb right back onto the top spot again. So, Worcester Bosch had better watch its back! *INSERT LINK*

Another important thing to say here is there’s no point having a fantastic guarantee if you don’t have the support to back it up. I’m glad to say that Ideal has its own dedicated engineers for call-outs (unlike Ariston who are also offering 12-year-guarantees) and has invested a lot into ensuring its customers are happy. But more about that below.

What about customer service?

Ideal are investing £3 – £4 million in their customer service, and their call centres are open 7 days a week! They even do call-outs on Sunday. Of course, they’ll prioritise more serious cases. Say, for instance, your boiler is working but with a leaky valve – they’ll definitely prioritise a 96-year-old pensioner with no heating and hot water.

I think it takes a brave company to admit their customer service maybe wasn’t as good as it could be. Ideal has really taken the bull by the horns, and made a massive investment to improve it. They’re also dedicated to listening to engineers and improving on their services. All because they want to be the best.

Of course, the likes of Baxi and Worcester Bosch also offer good customer service. Although, with Worcester, I sometimes find it’s harder to speak to someone in the summer months than the winter ones! It’s almost like they have less staff on-call.

Advice from a seasoned engineer

The more I hear about Ideal boilers, the more impressed I become. And that’s saying a lot, considering I’ve always been firmly in Worcester Bosch’s corner!

I actually spoke to an Ideal rep yesterday. He told me that he’d had an engineer call him to say the boiler he’d just fitted wasn’t working. The guy was ranting and raving because it was Christmas Eve. It turned out the engineer in question had crossed the pipes, so hot and cold were the wrong way around – at least theoretically.

But the engineer who called in the first place then had his phone on silent. Now, despite this absolutely not being in his remit, the Ideal engineer swapped the pipes over for the customer. Now, I know for a fact that 99% of boiler engineers wouldn’t do that, as there was nothing wrong with the boiler itself. He must have really felt the Christmas spirit!

So, I can highly recommend Ideal as a brand. But, let me leave you with some advice I always give to customers. If you can, speak to your chosen engineer about the length of guarantee they can offer you, and get 2 – 3 fixed price quotes before going ahead with the work.

Conclusion

Thanks for taking the time to read. I’ve seen a lot of changes in the market during my time as an engineer in the Edinburgh area. Now, it seems Ideal are back at the top of their game, and offering unbeatable guarantees right now. Plus, they’ve got the support and customer service in place to back it up!
