Are you considering investing in Tado smart controls for your home?

If so, you’ve probably already heard how great they are. Because we’re right in the middle of the digital age, I’m seeing many of my customers now thoroughly doing their research into smart controls. They’re growing more and more popular by the day!

No longer are they seen as just some sort of gimmick, but something that can add comfort and reduce your fuel bills. That’s why you need to take the Tado seriously.

So, as an experienced engineer, let me tell you more about the Tado and how it could save you at least 25% more than other smart controls on the market. (Which alone is a great selling point!)

What is the Tado and why is it so innovative?

Tado are a German company. They design and manufacture high-end controls that are extremely smart. They might be compared to Apple in the way they go about introducing their products. But what’s so great about the Tado? Well…

Imagine being able to control every single valve and radiator in your house. But not only that, if you leave a room or area of your home for long enough, the heating will automatically adjust itself back down again!

The Tado allows you to heat different areas of your home at different times. It even has a learning curve mode which automatically adapts to your behaviour and how you’re using it.

Now, imagine the energy you could save on a daily basis! The radiator controls, motion sensors and ultimate control over your heating could save you a massive 31% on your energy bills.

I’d call this the next generation in smart controls. It has more features than anything else in the market, and uses the digital era to track your movements and lifestyle.

You can also do all the standard things we’ve come to expect from smart controls, such as accessing them via an app on our smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world. Pretty nifty, eh?

How does the Tado compare to other controls?

Okay, so you may already be familar with controls such as the Worcester Bosch Wave, Hive Acting Heating, and the Nest Learning thermostat. So, why should you be paying attention to the Tado?

Well, think of it this way. All of the above controls are smart, and fantastic. But the Tado is much more advanced. It’s sort of like the iPhone X compared to the iPhone 7 or 8, in that it’s just that one step ahead of the game. It’s placing itself above the rest with motion sensors and zoning.

Essentially, it beats everything else on the market.

Another thing I love about Tado is that I’ve had problems with Hive in the past. I’ve had to call into their technical team, and it was an absolute nightmare! It took me 45 minutes to get through to anyone. Although when I finally got through, they were very helpful, it’s just not the same service you get with Tado.

If you ever need help with your Tado device, you call the tech line and go straight through to a London number, where you’re transferred to the tech team in Germany. I’ve personally had dealings with Sebastian there, who will happily go through everything with you – regardless of how trivial the question!

They can also look up and configure everything from their side. Their technical staff and knowledge is second-to-none. They even answered on the third ring!

What makes the Tado worth the money?

If you’re going to be forking out at least £99 – £200-ish (maybe more, depending on what you need and where you buy from), you’re going to need to know it’s going to be worth it.

I’d say the Tado is most suited to larger households, or for homeowners who are working from home. Essentially, someone who feels that they don’t want to use all of the radiators, all of the time. Perhaps you’ve got three radiators on during the day, but when the children come home from school etc. you’re going to need to turn up the heat.

Plus, the motion sensor will keep you right if you have to make a hasty exit! This makes it absolutely perfect for people with busy lifestyles. Especially as you can control the time and temperature of every single radiator valve in your home!

As I mentioned above, it also configures itself to adapt to your lifestyle if you’re not keen fiddling with it often.

Advice from an experienced heating engineer

Although the Tado is a fantastic, innovative way to control your heating, it’s not for everyone. These probably aren’t great for anyone who’s not particularly tech-savvy.  However, I’ve fitted a few now, and I’d say that if you’re comfortable using your smartphone and tablet, know how to configure your wireless router and can easily download an app on-demand, you’ll be absolutely fine.

The few I have fitted, I’d say my customers have nothing but praise for them. I’m very keen to listen to any feedback and keep up-to-date on the latest smart controls, and so far people seem to be loving it!

And if you do need help configuring your Tado, I can highly recommend their highly skilled technical team!

Conclusion

So, there we have it! The Tado is a revolutionary smart control system. It’s one step ahead of the likes of Worcester Bosch Wave, Hive Active Heating, and Nest controls. So far, customers seem to be loving how efficient it is, and it’s also simple to use – as long as you’re tech-savvy.

I’d say the Tado is most suited if you have a large home, or a very busy lifestyle. Essentially, if you only want to heat parts of your home at once, or want a much better zoning control during certain times of the day. It could save you up to a total of 31% on your energy bills!
