Are you thinking about purchasing a Viessmann boiler for your home?
Perhaps you’ve only recently become aware of the Viessmann brand, or just aren’t sure if they’re a good buy. After all, if you’re going to be investing in a new boiler, you want to be sure it’s going to be up to the job!
A German company, Viessmann actually call themselves a market leader, and have won prizes and awards for innovation. They’ve been around for over 100 years, and have been voted no.1 by German heating engineers since 1991.
So, are they worth a buy? Well, let’s take a closer look at this brand, below.
Range of boilers available
Viessmann offer a wide range of domestic and commercial boilers to suit most scenarios. In terms of domestic, they manufacture combi, regular and system boilers, and even have a very convenient compact range! This is perfect if you want to make the most of the space on your home!
Their storage combis also mean you can get really great flow rates to your taps, but more about that below.
Flow rates and outputs
The brand has a good range of different heating and hot water outputs to suit most scenarios. In terms of heating, they offer 13kW – 35kW boilers, which are suited from anything to a 1-bedroom flat to a large 5-bedroom home.
Their best flow rate can allow for up to 20 litres per minute to your taps! This is almost as good as Worcester Bosch’s Greenstar Highflow range, which can offer up to an incredible 25 litres per minute.
TIP: Just check your incoming water pressure is enough to ensure you’ll definitely get the benefit of choosing a large hot water output!
On the other end of the spectrum, the minimum flow rate their boilers can offer is 10 litres per minute. Which is perfect for a small property! Be sure to check with your installer about which model and flow rate might be best for you.
Reliability and reputation
Having won prizes and awards voted for by German engineers, this puts Viessmann in a good position. They also have centres based in the UK, which is good as it means it should be relatively easy to get hold of parts. So, on paper, so far – so good.
However, when it comes to looking at reviews online, they are quite mixed. In fact, the brand seems to have more 1-star reviews than 5-star reviews on Review Centre. Make of that what you will!
Guarantees
Viessmann boilers come with 5-year comprehensive warranties as standard. However, if you can find a Viessmann-accredited installer, you might be able to take advantage of a 7-year or even a 10-year extended warranty. Just be aware that it might cost a little more!
TIP: These warranties will only cover you for the full term as long as your boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Customer service/dedicated engineers
Viesmann have their own dedicated engineers for call-outs. This means that if you require a repair or part on your warranty, they’ll send out engineers who have experience dealing with the Viessmann brand, and your particular make or model of boiler.
Not all boiler manufacturers do this, and it’s always preferred rather than choosing a sub-contractor who may not necessarily have much experience of dealing with a particular brand.
Accredited engineers
Another good benefit of a Viessmann boiler is that they have accredited installers. This means that they have been specially approved by Viessmann, and they can even offer special deals and/or extended guarantees. In fact, you could benefit from up to a 10-year extended guarantee with the right Viessmann accredited installer.
Conclusion
German boiler manufacturer Viessmann have been around for over 100 years, so why are you just hearing about them now? Well, I personally don’t have a lot of experience working with this brand, and they’re not currently one of the market leaders. That could partially be explained by some of the online reviews!
