Are you looking to find out more about Gledhill unvented cylinders?
Perhaps you’ve noticed that they’re really good value for money. Or maybe you already have an inkling that there’s more than immediately meets the eye with this company.
You may have even started researching online because you wanted to discover what else is out there – besides Megaflos, that is – and came across this intriguing brand.
As an experienced engineer, I’ve got to say, I’m really impressed with Gledhill unvented cylinders. I’m going to tell you exactly why, below.
The best value unvented cylinder on the market
Without a doubt, Gledhill are definitely offering the best value for money on unvented cylinders right now. Not only are they one of the most reasonably priced on the market, but they’re also manufactured using only the highest grade of stainless steel, making for strong and durable containers you can rely on.
Made by the specialists in unvented cylinders
Gledhill specialise in unvented cylinders, having started their business all the way back in 1926. So, there’s quite a history there. Now, their unvented cylinders come in a wide range, and they’re often my go-to in tricky situations where Worcester Bosch and other brands just can’t compete.
They have a wide product range
Because they specialise in unvented cylinders and thermal storage, Gledhill have a large product range. This includes horizontal unvented cylinders! In some cases, these have won me jobs in the past, where other engineers have told clients their boilers simply can’t go where they want them to go due to lack of space.
Their cylinders also come in standard or slimline models.
You can get them custom-made
Another amazing thing about Gledhill is that you can get their unvented cylinders custom-made. And, it won’t break the bank! In fact, it only took four or five days to have a bespoke unvented cylinder made for one of my customers, for not that much extra money. I’d highly recommend if you need a very specific size of cylinder – perhaps to get into an attic or basement.
They’re very reliable and well-made
I’ve never yet had an issue with Gledhill unvented cylinders. I’ve had problems with other brands like Ariston and Heatre Sadia, such as leaking, infractions and ruptures, but never with Gledhill. I like to fit brands that don’t give me any problems, which is why this brand is a favourite of mine.
They’re the lightest unvented cylinders on the market
If you’re browsing on Gledhill’s product ranges, you’ll notice their cylinder pages come with a little scales stamp saying ‘lightest on the market’. This is another big plus point for Gledhill, as it makes transporting and fitting so much easier.
They’re manufactured right here in the UK
Gledhill cylinders are all British-made. So, from my point of view, if I want a Gledhill unvented cylinder, all I need to do is hop down to City Plumbing, grab one off the shelves and that’s it! They’re always in stock, and they even come pre-plumbed.
They come with 25-year guarantees
Just like most unvented cylinders on the market, they come with 25-year guarantees. However, again like most brands on the market, they don’t make it obvious that the guarantee only covers the pressure vessel, not the cylinder itself.
Advice from an experienced engineer
I highly recommend Gledhill unvented cylinders, for all of the reasons stated above. In fact, I can’t believe how great value for money they are – even when you get them custom-made! Just be sure your engineer checks you’re getting the right size for your home.
On two separate occasions I’ve fitted Gledhill cylinders in positions other engineers said they couldn’t fit them. One was a horizontal cylinder that easily fit in the required space. The second one I was about to get made-to-measure to fit into a customer’s attic space.
The lady in question didn’t want to open her ceiling up, but someone else told her it just wasn’t possible and it’d have to go in a cupboard. Luckily, I knew better. It didn’t cost a lot to get an unvented cylinder made-to-measure, and it only took four or five days for it to arrive. It wasn’t a big deal at all.
Conclusion
I hope this blog has given you a better overview of Gledhill unvented cylinders. There are so many great benefits of their products, and all of this adds up to amazing value. Their guarantees are also just as good as any others on the market (barring Santon).
