Wondering if the Worcester Bosch Greenstar i range could make the ideal choice for your next combi boiler?
I’m not surprised, as these boilers are amongst Worcester Bosch’s most popular best sellers, having replaced the old Greenstar Junior i range a while back.
But which one is right for you? It’s a question I get asked time and time again from customers who’ve done their research beforehand and already have a rough idea of what they want.
So, if you’re unsure which Greenstar i boiler is best suited to your home, look no further! I’ve provided the full low-down below – including all the specifications you need to make the right choice for your home.
Introduction
The Worcester Bosch Greenstar i range of boilers were introduced to ensure that Worcester Bosch was fully up-to-date with the new ERP directive introduced on September 26th 2015.
It goes without saying that these new models are more efficient than ever; they also produce lower emissions, feature an energy saving bulb, and meet various other new introduced standards.
However, there’s so much more to the Greenstar i range than just energy efficiency, as you’re about to discover…
Output and flow rates
Greenstar 25i: This boiler provides24 kw to the heating and 25 kw to the hot water at 10.2 litres per minute (35 degrees Celsius)
Greenstar 30i: This boiler will give you 24 kw to the heating and 30 kw to the hot water at 12.3 litres per minute (35 degrees Celsius)
Size and special features
Both of these boilers measure in at 710mm x 400mm x 330mm, so unfortunately they aren’t suitable for a standard kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press. If you’re really struggling for options, I suggest you look at some of the brand’s compact models (such as the Greenstar si range), which can probably do the job.
Another handy feature of the Greenstar i range is that you can fit a flue either vertically through the roof or horizontally through a wall – perfect if you need to carefully consider your options when it comes to your boiler’s location.
Guarantee
Worcester Bosch has one of the best no-quibble boiler guarantees on the market, which is one of the biggest reasons I’m happy to recommend them as a brand.
And you’ll be happy to learn that both Greenstar i models come with 8-year guarantees, when fitted by an accredited installer (and with Worcester Bosch’s own magnetic central heatingfilter).
NOTE: Your boiler must be serviced annually by as Gas Safe registered engineer in order for your 8-year guarantee to remain valid.
Ideal for
Now here comes the important bit; below, I’ve detailed the type of home each boiler in the range is best suited to, so you can get a good idea of which will be the best fit!
Greenstar 25i: Ideal for small to medium-sized properties with 4 – 8 radiators and a shower (not ideal for a bath)!
Greenstar 30i: Suited to small to medium-sized properties with 4 – 8 radiators and a high pressure shower and bath
TIP: This is just a rough guide, as every home is different. The best advice I can give you is to get your chosen engineer to measure your home’s heat loss and usage, so you can ensure you’re making the right choice to fit your individual needs.
ERP Rating
The ERP rating for these high efficiency boilers is: A – and with 93% efficiency, these are one of the highest performing boilers currently on the market.
Conclusion
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this overview of the Worcester Bosch Greenstar i range of boilers, and if I’ve done my job right, you should now have a better idea if either of these boilers could make the ideal combi boiler for your home!
However, always get your chosen engineer to carry out a heat loss check on your home to ensure you’re definitely making the right choice. Any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.
