Are you looking for the perfect high capacity combi boiler to suit the needs of your large Edinburgh home?
In that case, perhaps you’re already trying to figure out whether the Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Highflow 440cdi could give you a run for your money! I’ve personally installed many of these boilers over the years, and honestly, it probably could.
However, it’s oh so important to get it right when investing in a new boiler for your home, which means looking closely at flow rates, heating outputs, sizing and possible locations.
So, with all that to think about, I reckoned I’d do the hard work for you and review this boiler in full below!
Introduction
For a combi, the Greenstar CDi Highflow 440 is a wonderful beast of a boiler, in that it offers a fantastic flow rate and large heating output to comfortably supply your large home with all the heating and hot water it needs!
It’s ideal if you have multiple bathrooms, and don’t want to even think about the possibility of running out of hot water on those days where everyone seems to want to have a shower or bath at the same time!
I personally have had this exact boiler installed in my own home for nine years now, and it’s never missed a beat – a true testament to the fact that these boilers are incredibly reliable.
Output and flow rate
The CDi 440 combi boiler has a heating output of 29.2kw and provides 29.5kw to the hot water(supplying an incredible 20 litres of water per minute) so you’ll find it can handle just about anything you care to throw at it.
It can easily heat a home with around 10 – 14 radiators, although you should always get an engineer to measure your home’s heat loss to ensure this boiler is up to the job!
However, if you’re looking for the ultimate level of hot water from a combi (for instance, if a few people are likely to be using it at once), you may want to size up to its big brother, the CDi Highflow 550, at 41.1kw hot water output (with a flow rate of 25 litres per minute).
TIP: Before an engineer installs either of these boilers, you should first ask them to check your incoming water pressure to ensure you’re definitely going to get your money’s worth!
Size
One of the CDi Highflow 440’s downfalls is, arguably, its size. It’s a floor standing boiler, so it can take up quite a bit of space, with measurements of 850mm x 600mm x 600mm. It’s actually around the size of a washing machine, so it needs to be placed in a walk-in cupboard, basement or garage.
Alternatively, this boiler can (just like a washing machine) also fit under a kitchen unit, and its interior space has been optimised for ease of servicability, which is always a winner with me!
Guarantee
Because the Highflow 440 is a CDi model, this boiler comes with the best no quibble 10-year boiler guarantee on the market right now when fitted with Worcester Bosch Greenstar filter and controls – which are also covered for 10 years. Just be sure to get it serviced annually to keep your warranty valid!

Conclusion
I hope this review has shed some light on the kind of performance and outputs you can expect from the Greenstar CDi Highflow 440. It’s a great beast of a boiler, with a great flow rate, but its size can let it down, unless you have a large walk-in cupboard, garage or basement (or kitchen space) to put it in.
