Are you looking for a reliable system boiler for your Edinburgh home?
If so, the Worcester Bosch Greenstar i system boiler range might already be on your radar – or at least, it should be! But just to be sure you’re making the right decision, I’ve used my 20+ years of experience fitting and servicing this brand’s boilers, to review the entire range in full.
So, read on to find out whether these fantastic boilers might be the ideal choice for your home.
Introduction
The Worcester Bosch Greenstar i system boilers are split into two different groups. The first comprises the Greenstar 9i, 12i, 15i, 18i, 21i, and 24i, and are wall-hung boilers suited to small to medium homes.
However, a more updated Greenstar i system boiler has also recently been introduced, and consists of the Greenstar 27i and 30i system – these boilers are smaller and lighter than their predecessors, and can tackle medium to large homes. They can even fit inside a standard kitchen cupboard.
Worcester Bosch has been manufacturing premium system boilers for many years now – I know, as I’ve been fitting them! Well-known for using only the highest quality components, it’s no wonder the brand has been voted Which ‘Best Buy’ for six years running.
Output and flow rate
First, let’s take a look at the central heating output you can expect to your heating from these boilers:
- Greenstar 9i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 9kw
- Greenstar 12i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 12kw
- Greenstar 15i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 15kw
- Greenstar 18i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 18kw
- Greenstar 21i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 21kw
- Greenstar 24i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 24kw
- Greenstar 27i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 27kw
- Greenstar 30i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 30kw
Because these are system boilers, and will heat your existing or new hot water cylinder. You can expect the same flow rates as you’re accustomed to in your home – or alternatively, these can be fitted alongside an unvented cylinder to give even more oomph to your taps.
Size and special features
This is where things start to get a bit interesting. All of the i system boilers, apart from the 27i and 30i, measure in at 710mm x 400mm x 330mm and are wall-mounted.
However, the latest two boilers in the i system range (27i and 30i) are part of a new generation of smaller and lighter system boilers from Worcester Bosch, and measure in at just 690mm x 390mm x 280mm – so they can easily be placed in a standard-sized kitchen cupboard.
These boilers can be combined with the brand’s own range of high efficiency indirect or solar compatible Greenstore cylinders.
Guarantee
Another benefit of the Greenstar i system range is that these boilers come with Worcester Bosch’s standard 5-year no-quibble guarantee. However I would recommend getting a Worcester Bosch Accredited installer who can offer an 8 year guarantee when fitted along with the brand’s own magnetic central heating filter.
Worcester Bosch also has dedicated engineers ready to attend call-outs, so you know your new system boiler will be in good hands!
TIP: All Worcester Bosch’s guarantees are subject to the boiler being serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
