Review-_Pros_and_Cons_of_the_Worcester_Bosch_Greenstar_25si_Combi.jpg

Are you in need of a new compact combi boiler for your small to medium-sized Edinburgh home?

If so, the chances are that you’ve already heard of the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 25si – in fact, it’s probably the very reason you’re reading this blog!

Having had over 20 years of experience fitting and servicing Worcester Bosch boilers, I can personally vouch for the brand. However, if you’ve been wavering over this boiler, read on as I’ve reviewed it in full below.

Introduction

The 25si is a brilliant choice if your property is on the small side and you don’t have a lot of space, as these compact boilers will happily fit in a standard kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press.

They’re also perfect if you love a good, hot shower in the morning (or any time, really!), however it’s not the ideal choice if you have a bath, as it’ll be very slow to fill. Read on for this boiler’s exact specifications.

Output and flow rate

With a heating output of 24 kw, the 25si will comfortably heat a small to medium-sized property with around 5 – 9 radiators. As for the hot water output, this boiler will provide 25 kw to your taps, with a flow rate of around 10.2 litres per minute.

As I mentioned above, the 25si is ideal for running a shower (although not a rain shower), but if you also have a bath, I’d recommend sizing up to the 30si, which has a higher flow rate but exactly the same heating output.

TIP: I’ve compared the 25si and 30si more closely in this blog post)

Size and special features

Coming in at 690mm x 390mm x 280mm, the 25si is the perfect compact size for fitting in a kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press – which is a huge bonus if space is a premium in your home. And since it’s a combi, you won’t need any extra tanks taking up room, either!

This boiler is fully compatible with Worcester Bosch’s Wave control system, and also comes with an in-built Condensesure siphon which has been proven to effectively prevent a frozen condensate at temperatures below -15°C for a sustained period of time. Score!

Guarantee

Another benefit of the 30si is that it comes with the brand’s brilliant 9-year no-quibble guarantee when fitted by an accredited installer – as long as you install it with Worcester Bosch’s own filter and controls – it’s a bit of an extra cost, but worth it in my opinion.

This is a market-leading guarantee and one I recommend to most of my customers, as there are no hidden charges or small print. Plus, Worcester Bosch has its own dedicated engineers ready to attend call-outs if something does happen to go wrong with your boiler.

TIP: Just remember to ensure your boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer, otherwise your extra-long guarantee won’t stay valid!

Tech specs

Below, I’ve put together everything you need to know about the 25si, at a glance:

  • Heating output: 24 kw
  • Hot water output: 25 kw, 10.2 litres per minute (slow to fill a bath)
  • Ideal for: Small to medium-sized properties with one shower room and 5 – 9 radiators
  • ERP rating: A
  • Guarantee: 9 years (when fitted by an accredited installer, with Worcester Bosch’s own filter and controls)

Conclusion

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my review of the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 25si, and by now you should have a better idea of whether or not it’s suited to your home – however, always get an engineer to measure your home’s heat loss to check it’s definitely the right output!
