Are you in the market for a Baxi combi boiler to suit your Edinburgh family home?
If so, the Baxi Duo-tec 33 combi could be right up your street (so to speak!). This is one of the most popular options for many of my customers with larger family homes (around 3 – 4 bedrooms) and is great when it comes to balancing a combination of quality, reputation, and value for money.
However, I wouldn’t make up my mind before I had all the facts and I don’t expect you to, either – which is why I’ve given you a full review of the Baxi Duo-tec 33 below.
Introduction
Baxi is a long-established British brand that is particularly well-known for supplying quality boilers that are not only made to last but are also great value for money. The company has its own dedicated engineers, and because these boilers are made in the UK, spare components are readily available.
In the past, I’ve come across a few clients who were looking for a decent guarantee, but felt the likes of Worcester Bosch (a premium brand) were too expensive.
In these cases, the Baxi Duo-tec 33 worked out at around £250 cheaper than the Worcester Bosch 30i when supplied and fitted with controls and filter. And not only that, it has an additional 3kw output to the water which equates to an extra 1 litre per minute.
Output/flow rate
The Duo-tec 33 has a central heating output of 28kw, which should comfortably be able to heat a 3 – 4 bedroom home with around 8 – 10 radiators.
When it comes to the hot water output, the Duo-tec 33 will provide 33kw to your hot water taps, with a flow rate of 13.5 litres per minute.
Size and special features
The Duo-tec has dimensions of 780 high x 450mm wide x 345 deep, so this is not what I like to call a compact model. Unfortunately, it wont fit in your kitchen cupboard like some combis will.
It has easy to understand controls and display, but another great feature of the Duo-tec 33 is that it can be fitted with Baxi’s extra-long twin flue system, giving you plenty more options when it comes to fitting your boiler.
Guarantee
Good news! The Baxi Duo-tec 33 has Baxi’s brilliant 7-year no quibble guarantee, when fitted by an accredited installer. Just be sure to have it serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer!
Baxi has its own dedicated engineers to attend call-outs, too, so you can be sure your boiler is in experienced hands by trained professionals who only work with Baxi boilers.
Finally, Baxi’s guarantees no-quibble, meaning there’s no hidden small print or extra charges to your credit card – this is not something you can experience from all boiler companies.

Conclusion
If you’re looking for the ideal Baxi combi boiler for your Edinburgh family home, it may be that you’ve found one in the Baxi Duo-tec 33! Read the full review above so you can be sure, though.
The Duo-tec 33 should be perfect if you have a 3-4 bedroom home with around 8 – 10 radiators. The 33kw hot water output means it can easily run a bath and shower at the same time.
Baxi’s 7-year no-quibble guarantee means this A-rated boiler passes the test in terms of value, and you could save a couple of hundred pounds compared to other brands of the same spec.
