Sometimes it’s nice to get a helping hand, isn’t it?

As a landlord, it’s your responsibility to keep up-to-date with gas safety regulations – but it can also be expensive.

To make things worse, the Government’s Green Deal is no longer available. So, where do you turn?

The good news is that it’s possible to get financial help with your new boiler installation. Below, I’ve highlighted some of the best advice and resources that may help to ease the strain on your bank balance.

The Energy Savings Trust

First on my list is the Energy Savings Trust, which is a great resource for finding financial support, schemes and free/impartial advice for making your property more energy efficient.

You may be entitled to HEEPS cashback or a HEEPS interest-free loan to help you pay for your new boiler installation – so why not arrange a free property assessment to find out exactly what you’re eligible for?

However, I’d recommend reading the support for landlords FAQ first, as there are quite a few clauses and restrictions in place.

£400 cashback for your old boiler

Many companies are now offering a £400 trade-in for your old boiler. This is due to the high price of scrap metal, but it also helps cut carbon emissions and keeps up recycling targets.

Every little helps, and this is a great way of taking the sting out the price of a new boiler.

Scottish Gas

It’s also worth checking the Scottish Gas website, as they usually have offers running, such as the £100 incentive they are currently offering to landlords (valid until 31st October 2015), along with the above scrappage scheme.

However, these offers usually update every few months, and proof of Landlord status such as an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement or CP12 Gas Safety Certificate may be required.

It’s also worth checking other energy providers to see if they currently have any special deals for landlords.

Do your homework

Finally, my advice is to always invest time in your own research and observe due diligence on the internet when on the lookout for special deals.

Never be pressured into making a quick decision if one particular company tells you an offer is only available today, right now. It’s possible it may be too good to be true.

Conclusion

Sometimes it’s good to get a bit of financial help when having to pay for things like new boilers – especially if you’re a landlord who has to keep up-to-speed with the latest gas safety regulations.

The good news is that help is available, so it’s really worth doing your homework and checking online via websites such as the Energy Savings Trust, Scottish Gas, or other companies offering schemes such as £400 cashback on your old boiler.

Just remember to take your time, evaluate your options, and never feel pressured to take a particular deal just because it’s about to run out.
