Are you in the market for a new Worcester Bosch system boiler?

If you’re looking for virtually unlimited hot water to your taps, a system boiler can be a great choice. But you may also be aware that Worcester Bosch have two fantastic ranges of system boilers to choose from. So, how do you tell which might be right for your home?

As an experienced heating engineer, I’m going to tell you all you need to know about the two ranges of Worcester Bosch system boilers.

So, you can make a more informed choice!

Outputs and flow rates

Let’s get started by taking a look at the outputs and flow rates you can expect to your radiators and taps from these boilers.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Classic system:

  • Greenstar 30CDi Classic System: Provides a central heating and hot water output of 30kw
  • Greenstar 35CDi Classic System: Provides a central heating and hot water output of 35kw

Worcester Bosch Greenstar i system:

  • Greenstar 9i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 9kw
  • Greenstar 12i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 12kw
  • Greenstar 15i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 15kw
  • Greenstar 18i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 18kw
  • Greenstar 21i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 21kw
  • Greenstar 24i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 24kw
  • Greenstar 27i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 27kw
  • Greenstar 30i system: Provides an output to central heating and hot water of 30kw

Both of these ranges of system boilers will heat your existing or new hot water tank. And, you can expect the same flow rates as you’re accustomed to in your home. Alternatively, both of these ranges can be fitted alongside an unvented cylinder for even more power to your taps.

Size and special features

Now, let’s take a look at how these two ranges compare in terms of size and other features.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Classic system:

These are wall-hung boilers, and measure in at 760mm x 440mm x 360mm. What’s particularly neat about them, is that they come with a steel wall-mounting jig, so that your engineer can fit your pipework behind the boiler. Which means it can be pre-piped before it’s even fitted to the wall!

And it’s always a bonus that these two CDi boilers can be fitted with Worcester Bosch’s own range of high efficiency indirect, solar compatible Greenstore cylinders.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar i system:

Now, it may come as a surprise that not all the Worcester Bosch system boilers in this range are created equal. All of the i system boilers, apart from the 27i and 30i, measure in at 710mm x 400mm x 330mm and are wall-hung.

So, what’s the deal with the 27i and 30i? Well, they’re part of a new generation and are smaller and lighter. Measuring in at just 690mm x 390mm x 280mm, they can easily fit inside a standard-sized kitchen cupboard.

And just like the CDi range, all of the boilers in this range can also be combined with Worcester Bosch’s Greenstore cylinders.

Guarantee

Having a good, long guarantee should be near the top of your list when buying a new boiler. Worcester Bosch also has dedicated engineers ready to attend call-outs, so you know your new system boiler will be in good hands!

TIP: All Worcester Bosch’s guarantees are subject to the boiler being serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

So, here’s how these two ranges compare…

Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Classic system:

All of Worcester Bosch’s CDi system boilers come with the brand’s amazing 10-year no-quibble guarantee when fitted along with the brand’s own cylinder, controls and magnetic central heating filter by an accredited installer. Or, you could just opt for the filter and controls, and still get an 8-year guarantee on your new system boiler.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar i system:

This range is a little different. All of the Greenstar i system boilers come with Worcester Bosch’s standard 5-year no-quibble guarantee. Or, you can get an 8-year guarantee if you choose to fit the brand’s own controls and magnetic central heating filter.

Best suited to

This is the important bit, where you can get a much better idea of which boiler is best suited to your home. Luckily, Worcester Bosch have quite a comprehensive range, so there should be something to suit your home!

TIP: I always like to tell people to treat this next part as a rough guide. An engineer should always check your home’s heat loss before installing a new boiler, to be sure it will meet your needs.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Classic system:

  • Greenstar 30CDi Classic System: Best suited to a large 3 – 5 bedroom home with 10 – 14 radiators
  • Greenstar 35CDi Classic System: Ideal for a large 4 – 6 bedroom home with 12 – 18 radiators

Worcester Bosch Greenstar i system:

  • Greenstar 9i system: A small flat or bungalow with 3-5 radiators
  • Greenstar 12i system: A small flat or bungalow with 4-6 radiators
  • Greenstar 15i system: A small flat or house with 4-7 radiators
  • Greenstar 18i system: A small flat or house with 5-8 radiators
  • Greenstar 21i system: A small to medium home with 6 – 8 radiators
  • Greenstar 24i system: A medium-sized home with 7- 9 radiators
  • Greenstar 27i system: A medium to large home with 8 – 10 radiators
  • Greenstar 30i system: A large family home with 10 – 14 radiators
