Thinking about hiring someone to install a new Worcester Bosch boiler in your home?
Worcester Bosch installers are fairly commonplace across the UK – after all, they are one of the biggest, most popular premium brands around.
However, did you know that Worcester Bosch actually have accredited installers that have not only undertaken special training, but can even give you better deals and extended guarantees? Not to mention great tips for your keeping your central heating system efficient and up-to-date.
You might be surprised.
That’s why I wanted to write this blog post, to help ensure you choose the best Worcester Bosch installer for the job. So, below are the 6 important questions you should be asking.
1. Are you Worcester Bosch accredited?
This is the first thing you should always ask a Worcester Bosch installer, as the brand only accepts the best engineers into their accreditation scheme. According to the company, installers have to be reputable, quality-conscious and representing value for money – so you can be sure your boiler is in good hands!
No-one knows Worcester Bosch boilers like accredited installers do, which is why I always recommend looking for one via the official website’s search function.
2. Are you qualified to work on my specific boiler?
Not only have accredited installers gone through the relevant channels for Gas Safe, OFTEC and/or MCS approval, they also will have attended Logic certified training courses for various Worcester Bosch boilers, solar thermal systems, heat pumps and/or underfloor heating.
Although technically they should know their stuff, it’s still worthwhile checking that an engineer has the relevant qualifications to work on your specific boiler model and type – for instance, LPG boilers often require a separate qualification.
Worcester Bosch recommends homeowners verify an engineer’s qualifications via websites like the Gas Safe register, just to be on the safe side.
3. Will you give advice on what’s best for my home?
All good Worcester Bosch accredited installers will be able to measure your home’s heat loss, as well as your incoming flow rate etc. in order to give you the absolute best advice on which boiler best suits your home. If they don’t take the time to do this, they’ll just be guessing, and you may not get the best results.
Your chosen installer should also be happy to give you other tips and advice on how to best maintain your boiler and central heating system, as well as answer any questions you may have.
4. Can I have a detailed, fixed price quote?
This is so important, as you should always be able to see what you’ll be be paying for before agreeing to have any work done – like installing a new boiler – and not have to pay for any unexpected surprises later on down the line. A fixed price quote does exactly what it says on the tin.
Worcester Bosch recommends you seek out two or three fixed price quotes from their accredited installers, so you can be absolutely certain you’re getting a good deal.
5. Can you give me an extended guarantee?
By far one of the biggest benefits of choosing a Worcester Bosch accredited installer is that they are often able to offer extended guarantees of up to anywhere between an extra3 and 7 years – now that’s impressive. This usually depends on the model, so ask your chosen installer for more details. So with an accredited installer you can expect to have an overall guarantee of between 8-10 years on your new Worcester Bosch boiler.
6. Will you come back for my annual service?
Finally, it’s always good to be able to build up a relationship with your heating engineer, and many Worcester Bosch accredited installers also offer annual servicing, so check your chosen installer can return to carry out your annual service (which is important for keeping your warranty valid!).
TIP: It may also be worth asking them if they offer service plans, which allow you to pay a little every month towards your annual service – it also stops you forgetting about it when the time comes, as they will have a duty to arrange it every year!
Conclusion
I hope I’ve managed to shed some light on the questions you should really be asking the next time you choose a Worcester Bosch installer – the brand really looks out for its own, with special accredited installers that know their products inside and out. You can even get a much longer guarantee!
