Are you interested in a Baxi EcoBlue + combi boiler, but uncertain of your options?
Many of my customers come to me already knowing they want a Baxi combi boiler, and I usually direct them towards the EcoBlue range, which includes the EcoBlue Advance and EcoBlue +.
However, as an experienced heating engineer, I know that determining exactly which one you need is absolutely vital, as getting it wrong could mean feeling cold in winter, or using up more energy than you need.
To make your choice as simple as possible, I’m going to give you an overview of the entire EcoBlue + range of combi boilers, and the type of home best suited to each.
Output/flow rate
Below, you’ll find the outputs available to your central heating, as well as the flow rate you can expect to your taps.
- 21.2kw to the heating and 24kw to the hot water: 9.8 litres per min at 35 degrees Celsius
- 25.3kw to the heating and 28kw to the hot water: 11.5 litres per min at 35 degrees Celsius
- 29.6kw to the heating and 33kw to the hot water:13.5 litres per min at 35 degrees Celsius
TIP: To figure out the correct output for your home, I’d recommend getting your chosen Gas Safe registered heating engineer to measure the precise heat loss of your home, so you know you’re making the right choice.
PLEASE NOTE: If you opt for the 33kw boiler, please ask your engineer to check your incoming water pressure and flow rate before fitting. You will NOT benefit from the superb flow rate if your incoming pressure is insufficient.
Size and special features
The EcoBlue + is around 700mm high X 390mm wide X 295mm deep, so it’s pretty compact for a combi boiler and will fit inside an Edinburgh press cupboard. Hurrah!
This boiler can be fitted with your choice of EcoBlue parts, including a digital or mechanical timer, as well as a room thermostat. Not forgetting Baxi’s extra long twin flue option!
Guarantee
The EcoBlue + comes with Baxi’s fantastic 7-year no-quibble guarantee, which is valid as long as your boiler is serviced every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Ideal for:
This is the part where I tell you which specification boiler is best suited to your home (although I’d still recommend heat loss measurement to be 100% sure):
EcoBlue + 24kw combi: Ideal for a small flat with 4-5 radiators and a shower (would probably be slow to fill a bath)
EcoBlue + 28kw combi: Ideal for a small 2-bedroom house or flat with 5-6 radiators and a shower or bath. (If you use a bath every day, I’d recommend opting for the 33kw)
EcoBlue + 33kw combi: Ideal for a 3-4 bedroom family home 6-8 radiators, high pressure shower and a bath. Great flow rate for shower and perfect for filling a bath.
ERP rating
Good news! All of the boilers in the EcoBlue + range are A-rated with a 91.1% boiler efficiency.
Conclusion
If you’re interested in the Baxi EcoBlue + range, but aren’t sure of exactly which specification or model you need, this blog has made life a bit easier.
Above, I’ve given you an overview of everything you need to know about each model specification, included the heating output and flow rate, size and special features, guarantee, ERP rating and more.
I’ve also provided a rough guide to help determine which model might be best suited to your home – but remember to ask your chosen heating engineer to conduct a heat loss test and check your incoming water pressure – just to be certain!
