Are you looking for a regular boiler to directly replace the existing one in your large Edinburgh home?
Over the years, a lot of customers have approached me when their old, temperamental regular boilers have simply given up the ghost. But they were quick to stress that they didn’t want all the stress, upheaval and expense of switching to a new combi system.
In these situations, I tend to recommend the Worcester Bosch Greenstar ri range as an ideal solution.
I’ve already reviewed the Greenstar 15ri, 18ri and 24ri – so the chances are if you landed here, you may be looking for a bit extra power that the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27ri regular boiler can provide.
If that’s the case, let’s take a closer look at the 27ri below, so you can make the best decision for your home:
Introduction
When it comes to reputation, Worcester Bosch is second-to-none, having won Which’s ‘Best Buy’ four years running. That’s one of the reasons I recommend them to all my customers.
I’ve used the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27ri in a situation where other engineers have quoted a 24kw boiler, which in my opinion was undersized for the house – meaning it might have felt a bit chilly in the depth of winter.
There’s also been a situation where another engineer had quoted a 30kw, which was too high an output and meant the customer was paying more for an output they didn’t actually require.
So, as you can see, there are times when a 27kw boiler fits the bill just right, and fits in nicely between the 24kw and 30kw – great thinking from Worcester Bosch there.
Output and flow rate
As I mentioned above, this boiler has a 27kw output to the central heating, making it most suitable for a 4-5 bedroom home with around 10 – 12 radiators.
This boiler is NOT suitable for a small, 2 bedroom home as it would be overpowered. Nor is it suitable for a larger 6 bedroom home with high ceilings, or 14+ radiators.
Because this is a regular boiler, you’ll find it will happily connect to your existing water tank, so you won’t see any difference in your flow rate when fitting this particular boiler – which is great if you have a power shower or shower pump.
Size and special features
The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27ri is a compact boiler that will easily fit inside a standard kitchen wall cupboard, so you can make the most of the available space in your home.
Another nice feature is that it can also be fitted with a Worcester controls or connect to your existing Y plan or S plan control system.
Guarantee
Just like all the boilers in the Worcester Bosch Greenstar ri range, this particular model comes with Worcester Bosch’s fantastic no quibble 8-year boiler guarantee* so you’ll be covered for all eventualities.
I personally think Worcester Bosch currently has the best boiler guarantee on the market. You might be able to find longer guarantees out there from other boiler manufacturers, but there’s often a catch in the small print, or extra credit card charges before they’ll even agree to a call-out (Vaillant is one exception to this).
Tech specs
Below, you’ll find a brief overview of all the important tech specs from the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27ri:
- Boiler output: 27kw
- Ideal for: A 4-5 bedroom home with around 10-12 radiators
- ERP rating: A
- Guarantee: 8 years*
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a direct replacement for your old regular boiler, the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27ri could be perfect for your large home. It’s a regular boiler, and is perfect if you’re looking for a quick fix with very minimal upheaval involved.
The output of 27kw makes this boiler pack quite a punch, and I’ve often used it in situations where the 24kw wouldn’t be enough, but the 30kw would mean a home is overpowered. In most cases, the 27ri is perfect for a 4-5 bedroom home with around 10-12 radiators.
The 27ri is also a compact model, so it’s ideal for fitting in your kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press – plus, it’s compatible with solar heating! Top it all off with Worcester Bosch’s fantastic no-quibble 8-year guarantee*
