Are you considering fitting a Worcester Bosch Greenstore cylinder with system boiler for your home?
If you’re thinking of investing in an unvented cylinder, you’ve probably already heard of the Greenstore range. It’s currently available in seven levels of hot water capacity, and provide rapid re-heating times with incredible heat retention, so your water will always be ready to go at mains pressure.
Which is ideal if you want to run multiple showers or baths at once!
But why would you want to invest in a Greenstore cylinder over any other brand? After all, they can be a little on the pricey side (about 10 – 15% pricier, actually), and they’re certainly not the only option out there.
As an experienced engineer who’s fitted many Greenstores over the years, I’m going to talk you through some of the reasons you might want to choose a Worcester Bosch Greenstore cylinder.
1. You want fantastic reliability
You may have heard that Worcester Bosch has a fantastic reputation for reliability. I’m a huge fan of their boilers, simply because I can fit them and then forget about them. They rarely ever break down and have the longest lifespan of just about any boiler on the market, as they’re built with premium parts.
Well, just like the boilers, the Worcester Bosch Greenstore cylinder range is built to last. They are extremely reliable, easy to fit and come pre-plumbed. Just to reinforce that, they also come with a brilliant 25-year guarantee (but more about that below).
2. You want the most efficient system
If you have a Worcester Bosch system boiler, combined with a Greenstore cylinder and integral diverter valve, this easily becomes one of the most efficient systems you could possibly have in your home. The hot water recovery rate is pretty much second to none, and you’ll have all the hot water you can dream of.
3. You want a 25-year guarantee
It’s no secret that Worcester Bosch have one of the best no-quibble guarantees on the market. Their Greenstore range of cylinders all come with a 25-year guarantee, which is a pretty long time not to have to worry about anything going wrong.
There is one caveat to this, however, and this applies to all unvented cylinder brands. Most manufacturers don’t tell you that the guarantee is on the cylinder itself, but not the pressure vessel. This isn’t just limited to Worcester Bosch. I always compare it to older boiler guarantees that used to only cover the heat exchanger.
4. You’re buying a Worcester Bosch boiler
Worcester Bosch have great package deals on offer. So, if you buy a Worcester Bosch system boiler, with filter, controls and cylinder, you can take advantage of a fantastic 10-year no-quibble guarantee that covers your boiler, filter and controls – plus you’ll of course get the 25 years on your cylinder.
5.You want to invest in solar panels in future
Whether you have solar panels now, or want to have the option in future, Greenstore has you covered with their solar cylinder range. A few of my customers have already taken advantage of this, just in case they want the option of solar panels later down the line.
It’s only around £100 difference in price, so you’d just as well having the extra coil so you’ll be all set.
Advice from an experienced engineer
Worcester Bosch Greenstore cylinders can, of course, be fitted with any brand of boiler. However, the efficiency of a Worcester Bosch system boiler, and integral diverter valve combined with a Greenstore cylinder is just about unbeatable in terms of efficiency, so it’s the option I’d highly recommend.
I’d also advise you ensure your engineer checks it’s the right size for your house. The last thing you want is a cylinder that’s too big, as this will constantly be wasting energy by refilling with cold water. But get the right cylinder, and it’ll mean high pressure, an excellent recovery rate, and a lovely, warm home.
Conclusion
I hope this blog has given you a better idea of why you’d want to install a Worcester Bosch Greenstore cylinder in your home. There are so many benefits, and especially if you’re buying a Worcester Bosch boiler, this is the option to consider – along with an integral diverter valve.
Just ensure you don’t buy one that’s too big for your house, as this can be very wasteful. If in doubt, check with your engineer and ensure they understand your needs.
