If so, perhaps you’ve recently cottoned onto some of the great value you can get from Ideal boilers at the moment. In fact, the brand have gained quite a bit of market share recently for that very reason!

However, you may be thinking back about 18 – 20 years ago, when Ideal were selling a product that just wasn’t reliable. What’s changed? Well, quite a lot actually!

As an experienced heating engineer, I’m going to tell you six reasons why it might be worthwhile taking a second look at Ideal boilers.

1. Better performance

Ideal boilers of the present are far superior to Ideal boilers of the past. This is because, going back to 18 – 20 years ago when the first condensing boilers were introduced onto the market, the technology wasn’t tried and tested. Despite this, a lot of boiler manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon.

Ideal were one of the companies to sell a lot of first-gen condensing boilers, so when they started to break down, they ended up paying the price. They lost out on quite a bit of market share as a result. (Worcester Bosch were three years behind everyone else in bringing out condensing boilers, and their product worked first time – they actually gained market share by default!)

Nowadays, the brand has had a bit more time to conduct lengthy research and development on their boilers, and they’re now putting out high quality, reliable boilers, with good quality management and a helpful call centre.

2. Up to 10-year guarantees

To back up their great product, Ideal are now offering 10-year guarantees on their Logic+ range of combis. You just have to find the right accredited installer who can offer you this special deal! You can also get a 10-year guarantee on their premium Vogue boiler, as long as you install the brand’s filter at the same time.

These are fantastic, no-quibble guarantees, with nothing in the small print to catch you out! Unlike other brands, there will be no charge to your credit card for call-outs, and you’ll be covered for wear and tear. 

3. Great value for money

Along with Baxi, Ideal are offering amazing value for money on their boilers right now. Not only do you get a bit more bang for your buck – with slightly higher outputs for less money than the likes of Worcester Bosch – but they also offer a 10-year guarantee (on the Logic+) without having to fork out for filters and controls.

Typically, the boiler alone is around £200 – £300 cheaper than the closest equivalent model from Worcester Bosch – and when you add the filter and controls onto that, you could be saving quite a bit of money!

4. Made with premium parts

Some Ideal boilers (including the Vogue range) are now made with premium parts and components, which Ideal claim “bring you the next step in domestic heating intelligence”. This includes a stylish chassis complete with a full-sized door and damped opening, and a stainless steel heat exchanger.

Ideal are now also offering longer maximum flue lengths, so check with your installer!

5. Dedicated engineers for call-outs

Finally, unlike some boiler manufacturers, all of Ideal’s engineers are trained up and dedicated to working on Ideal boilers. They won’t send you a local sub-contractor who spends his days working on different brands, or even doing a bit of plumbing on the side!

6. Accredited installers

The reason boiler manufacturers like accredited installers is that they’ll fit many of their boilers. However, it’s more than just that. The more boilers an engineer fits, the more experienced they become with certain models, and the overall brand.

This is an important thing, as when the engineer is accredited, he/she will have more knowledge to help you decide on the correct boiler for you. And as mentioned above, you can also get extended guarantees in some cases!

If you’ve been feeling unsure about Ideal boilers, I don’t blame you. They were one of the many boiler manufacturers to fall foul of introducing first-gen condensing boilers, and it came back to bite them.
