Do you want to find out more about the Ideal Vogue combi boiler range?

If you’re looking for a high output combi that can tackle a large home, the Vogue range could be perfect. It’s what I’d called Ideal’s ‘premium range, built with premium components.

Many of my customers are being swayed towards Ideal lately, with great value deals and slightly higher outputs for your money. The Vogue is just one example of this.

So, if you want to take a closer look at the Ideal Vogue range, read on! As an experienced heating engineer, you’ll hear my opinion on these boilers. I’ve also provided a brief guide as to which might be best suited to your home.

NOTE: Always consult with your chosen heating engineer before making your final decision!

Introduction

Ideal is a British brand that’s back on top of their game. There was a time (around 10 – 15 years ago) where they had some issues with the reliability of their boilers, but now they’re offering great value products with long guarantees – and slightly more value for money than what you’d get from the likes of Worcester Bosch and Vaillant!

And because the Vogue range is offering larger outputs and more bang for your buck, they’re currently a great deal, working out around £300 – £400 cheaper than Worcester Bosch.

The Ideal Vogue range is a premium range of boilers. They’re following a common trend amongst manufacturers lately by using premium brass, water-set components. In the past, it was common to use plastic components in boilers. These would often lead to leaking and failing more quickly. These boilers are now definitely built to last!

Finally, it’s also worth noting these boilers contain different sizes of expansion vessels in them. Especially in terms of the larger, 40kW boiler, it contains a much larger expansion vessel to cope with the bigger radiators. Therefore, there’s no longer any need for a secondary expansion vessel to be fitted remotely.

Output and flow rate

Now, let’s take a look at the type of outputs and flow rates you can expect from the Ideal Vogue combi range:

  • The Ideal Vogue 26: 10.6 litres of hot water per minute, with an output of 26kW to the hot water, and 18kW to the heating
  • The Ideal Vogue 32: 13.1 litres of hot water per minute, with an output of 32kW to the hot water, and 26kW to the heating
  • The Ideal Vogue 40: 16.4 litres of hot water per minute, with an output of 40kW to the hot water, and 32kW to the heating

From an engineer’s perspective, one of my favourite things about this range is that they’ve got a great little boiler with the 26. So many boilers are 24kW, or 25kW. All give 24kW to the heating, but this is specifically for a small flat, with 18kW. Despite this, it gives the benefit of a higher flow rate with 26kW. It means you’re not wasting gas by fitting something bigger.

It’s also quite quiet, which is great if you have a small apartment. Not to mention they’re well made, with good engineering to-boot!

Size and special features

Measuring in at around 740mm x 445mm x 330mm, the Vogue range are wall-hung combis, so they won’t fit in a standard kitchen cupboard or Edinburgh press. However, they will look at home on your kitchen wall, or in a larger cupboard or utility room.

The Ideal Vogue range is built with premium components, features a backlit 3.5” LCD full colour display, and features a low lift weight.

Guarantee

Because these are premium boilers, Ideal are happy to offer a full 10-year guarantee as long as there is an Ideal magnetic central heating filter. Ideal also have dedicated engineers for call-outs, and their guarantees are no-quibble. So, you won’t have to put up with annoying credit card charges.

TIP: Bear in mind though, your guarantee will only last for 10 years provided you have your boiler serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer! (I also like that these boilers are really easy to service)

Perfect for

This is the part you’ll probably want to pay the most attention to, as I’m about to  tell you which boiler is best suited to your home!

  • Ideal Vogue 26: Perfectly suited to a small 1-bedroom flat with 3 – 6 radiators, a basin and high-pressure shower. May be slow to run a bath. (Got a bath? Opt for the 32kw)
  • Ideal Vogue 32: Best matched to an apartment or 3-bedroom semi-detached home, with 8 – 12 radiators and a high pressure shower or bath
  • Ideal Vogue 40: Great for a large home with 12+ radiators. This boiler can easily run 2 showers at once (with slightly reduced pressure), or a shower and a bath

TIP: Use this as a rough guide. Always get an engineer to check your home’s heat loss before installing a new boiler.

Conclusion

I hope this overview of the Ideal Vogue combi range has helped with your decision. Any one of these boilers is a great buy! However, consult with your chosen heating engineer before deciding which is best for your home.
